Cathedral Tour Guides

From Victoria Day through Thanksgiving, we give guided tours of the cathedral to visitors from all over the world.

St.George’s tour guides are dedicated volunteers who enjoy showing the historic and architecturally important Anglican Cathedral Church of St. George to visitors. The Cathedral is open week days and Saturday mornings from Victoria Day in May to Thanksgiving in October.  Opening times are 10a.m. to 4p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 10a.m. to 1p.m.  On Tuesdays the church is open until 9p.m.

Tours are available by appointment at other times.  Please call the office to make arrangements!  We can provide an experienced tour guide if we have advance notice.

The Cathedral is a popular venue for bus tours that make a stop in Kingston. Although worship spaces speak a universal language, we do have a number of translations of our guiding narrative to enable those who don’t speak English to fully enjoy our historic church.  Be sure to ask for one in the language of your choice.

Our guides are drawn mainly from the Cathedral congregation, but volunteers from other churches, Queen’s or the community at large are most welcome.  If you like to meet people from around the world (last year we welcomed over 8000 visitors), have an interest in history and a  knowledge of Anglican practices, this is a volunteer group to which you could contribute. Training for new guides is provided.  Each new guide shares a shift with an experienced guide until he/she feels confident.
