Memorials & Records

We often hear the phrase “if only these walls could talk.”  In the case of Cathedrals and to some extent each parish church, the walls do talk.  The walls of St. George’s Cathedral are ornamented with numerous plaques and other forms of recognition.

The plaques describe the history of many of the prominent citizens of Kingston, and in turn the history of our city.  The earliest plaque is to Charles Poulett Thomson, 1st Baron Sydenham, and first Governor of the United Province of Canada. The lists document Wardens of the church, members of the parish who served in wars, and other contributions to the remarkable history of this church.

We trust the Memorials & Records section will prove interesting to the students of Kingston history, and add to our collective knowledge.
