December 3, 2018 Parish Council Notes

Parish Council (PC), December 3, 2018

1. Review by V. Jackson of where we are in the development of a mission statement and related items.  The process will continue in January, 2019.

2, Wardens reported that the lighting is now completed and in full working order.  Exterior door hooks have been replaced.  There is a new sound system in the Great Hall with thanks to M. Tureski.  The heating system is in full operation.

3, Financial Report.  Budget for 2019 approved in principle although the amount of our CMM (Common Ministry & Mission) is not confirmed.  To be presented at the Annual Vestry Meeting (AVR).

4.  Dean’s report:

  • There is progress on having the Cathedral declared a National Historic Site.
  • The Dean is reviving the Canons Chapter.
  • Shortly there will be 9 mics that are worn on the head, used by all who will speak (Gospel, liturgy, etc).
  • There is progress on achieving “live streaming” of some services.
  • Will be away January 10-17 on his winter holiday.

5 General:

  • Use of a bulletin/booklet with all info except hymns has been well accepted.  This will continue.
  • Investigation of a large-screen TV on a wheeled stand continues, for use at the back of the church, for tour info, for history, for use in Great Hall.
  • Discussion of lunches following the 10.30 service.  Syrian lunch will be on January 20.  More details to follow.
  • Letter sent to parishioners recently seeking info about our annual gifts.
  • Bishop’s Levee on January 1, 2019 at 4pm is a Eucharist followed by refreshments.
  • Will aim for PC notes after each PC meeting for bulletin and website.
  • Next PC meetings are January 8, 2019 and February 19, 2019 from 5-6.30pm.
