The Cathedral Children’s Choir is returning in September!  After a covid hiatus we are now able to welcome children back to the music program.  We will have more details very soon, so watch the newsletter and website or send a note to music@stgeorgescathedral.ca if you have specific questions.   

I am very pleased share that the Cathedral has commissioned a new anthem from Dr Mark Sirett to be premiered at the Installation of our new Dean on 11 September.  A world-renowned Canadian composer and choral director, Dr Sirett was also Director of Music at St George’s from 1990-96.  The new anthem, Here is the Place, uses a text from Shirley Murrary, a New Zealand born hymn writer coupled with a verse from Micah.  The anthem is written so that it is singable by other smaller choirs and is specifically intended to be a contribution to the music of the wider church and we certainly look forward to it being used in other places.     If anyone is interested in making a specific donation to offset the cost of this small project, we would be pleased to accept that assistance.
