It is not every day that Kingston makes the national news – but we have been the focus since yesterday!  The issue is that our COVID 19 numbers have risen rising exponentially, and with the Omicron variant spreading rapidly, the danger of more COVID 19 contagion is very great. With this in mind, we have decided as the Cathedral to cut back on services for everyone’s safety and well-being.  Given that the regional / provincial restrictions last only until this coming Monday, we do not know what will happen beyond then – please stay tuned.

So:

  1. The Saturday Advent concert scheduled for 18 December is canceled.  The artists will find a safe time to perform in the future.
  2. Sunday services, scheduled for 8:00 am, 9:15 am, and 11:00 am, will continue as usual, (with the 11:00 am service live-streamed.
  3. Sunday’s Nine Lessons and Carols for Christmas, scheduled for 7:00 pm in person, will be only live-streamed (from last year). We do not want to risk a large gathering.
  4. Christmas Eve services (4:00 and 10:00 pm) will at this time continue, pending health and diocesan regulations, but likely will be adapted to Pandemic conditions.

We are sorry to have to make these changes, but our own health and safety are paramount.

I do want to remind you that the ongoing finances of our Cathedral parish continue.  If you can, please be generous in your support of the Cathedral at this time.  We want to be as strong as we can for our own future.

Blessings and peace in this season,

The Ven. David Selzer
