Melos presents heavenly music of mourning spanning 14 centuries. Excerpts from Victoria’s 16th c. haunting Lamentations of Jeremiah, and Bach’s expressive Trauer Ode BWV 198; plus Purcell’s Funeral Music for Queen Mary with period winds & brass and Durufle’s Requiem with organ, strings, brass and harp.
Melos’ Jennifer Day on Baroque Trumpet, and Lorenzo Sivilotti on Renaissance Sackbut are joined by guest trumpeters Paul Sanvidotti and Andras Molnar. With guests Jin Cho and Emily Richardson on Baroque flute; Baroque oboes played by Walter Kipp and Chris Alfano.
For the Durufle Requiem, the choir with Brent Nuevo on organ will be joined by Melos strings, our guest trumpeters, Margaret Walker on timpani and guest harpist, Alanna Ellison.
